Pat the scallops dry with paper towels. Season both sides with salt and black pepper.

Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat until hot.

Add the scallops to the skillet in a single layer, making sure they are not touching each other.

Sear the scallops for 2-3 minutes on each side until they form a golden crust and are opaque in the center.
