Ingredients

  • 0.5 tsp black pepper
  • 1 egg
  • 10 g fresh basil
  • 2 cloves garlic
  • 450 g Italian sausage
  • 700 ml marinara sauce
  • 240 g mozzarella cheese
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 60 g Parmesan cheese
  • 450 g ricotta cheese
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 450 g ziti pasta

Directions

Step 1
Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
Step 2
Cook the ziti pasta according to the package instructions. Drain and set aside.
Step 3
In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the Italian sausage and cook until browned. Remove the sausage from the skillet and set aside.
Step 4
In the same skillet, add the minced garlic and cook until fragrant. Add the marinara sauce, salt, and pepper. Let it simmer for 10 minutes.
Step 5
In a large bowl, combine the ricotta cheese, egg, and half of the mozzarella and Parmesan cheeses. Mix well.
Step 6
In a baking dish, layer half of the cooked ziti pasta, half of the sausage, and half of the sauce. Spread the ricotta mixture evenly over the sauce layer. Add the remaining ziti, sausage, and sauce on top.
Step 7
Sprinkle the remaining mozzarella and Parmesan cheeses over the top.
Step 8
Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
Step 9
Garnish with fresh basil before serving.
