Step 1
In a medium bowl, cream together the butter, brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, and salt until well combined.

Transfer the mixture to a small container and refrigerate until firm, about 1 hour.

For each serving, place 2 tablespoons of the butter mixture in a mug.
Step 4
Pour 2 ounces (60ml) of rum and 1/2 cup (120ml) of boiling water into the mug and stir until the butter mixture is completely melted.
