A traditional Thai dessert combining sweet sticky rice with fresh mango slices and a rich coconut sauce.
Directions
Step 1
Rinse the glutinous rice under cold water until the water runs clear.
Step 2
Soak the rice in water for at least 4 hours or overnight.
Step 3
Drain the rice and steam it in a bamboo steamer for 30-40 minutes until cooked.
Step 4
While the rice is cooking, heat the coconut milk in a saucepan over medium heat. Add the sugar and salt, stirring until dissolved. Do not let it boil.
Step 5
Once the rice is cooked, transfer it to a large bowl and pour half of the coconut milk mixture over it. Mix well, then let it sit for 20 minutes to absorb the flavors.
Step 6
Peel and slice the mangoes.
Step 7
Serve the sticky rice with mango slices on the side. Drizzle the remaining coconut milk sauce over the rice and sprinkle with roasted sesame seeds.
