Ingredients

4 Servings
  • 0.5 tsp black pepper
  • 100 g breadcrumbs
  • 50 g butter
  • 1 egg
  • 100 g flour
  • 1 tsp lemon zest
  • 250 ml milk
  • 2 tbsp parsley
  • 500 g potatoes
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 200 ml vegetable oil
  • 400 g white fish fillets

Directions

Step 1
Boil the potatoes in salted water until tender, about 15 minutes. Drain and mash with the butter.
Step 2
In a separate pan, poach the fish fillets in the milk over low heat for about 5-7 minutes, until cooked through. Remove the fish and flake into large chunks.
Step 3
Combine the mashed potatoes, flaked fish, parsley, lemon zest, salt, and pepper in a large bowl. Mix well.
Step 4
Shape the mixture into 8 equal-sized patties and chill in the refrigerator for 30 minutes.
Step 5
Coat each patty in flour, then dip in beaten egg, and finally coat in breadcrumbs.
Step 6
Heat the vegetable oil in a large frying pan over medium heat. Fry the fish cakes for about 3-4 minutes on each side, until golden brown and crispy.
Step 7
Drain on paper towels and serve hot with tartar sauce or lemon wedges.
