Step 1
Preheat your oven to 175°C (350°F). Grease and flour two 9-inch round baking pans.

In a large bowl, sift together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.

Add the sugar, eggs, buttermilk, vegetable oil, and vanilla extract to the dry ingredients and mix until well combined.

Gradually add the boiling water to the mixture, stirring continuously until smooth. The batter will be thin.

Pour the batter evenly into the prepared baking pans and bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

Allow the cakes to cool in the pans for 10 minutes, then transfer to wire racks to cool completely.

In a large bowl, whip the cream and powdered sugar until stiff peaks form.
