A simple and easy recipe to make fresh cottage cheese at home. Perfect for a healthy snack or addition to various dishes.
Directions
Step 1
Pour the whole milk into a large pot and slowly heat it over medium heat until it reaches 85°C (185°F). Stir occasionally to prevent the milk from scorching.
Step 2
Once the milk reaches the desired temperature, remove it from the heat and stir in the white vinegar. You will notice the milk beginning to curdle.
Step 3
Cover the pot and let it sit undisturbed for about 30 minutes.
Step 4
After 30 minutes, line a colander with cheesecloth and carefully pour the curdled milk into it to separate the curds from the whey.
Step 5
Gather the edges of the cheesecloth and tie them into a bundle. Hang the bundle over a sink or bowl to drain for an additional 5-10 minutes.
Step 6
Transfer the curds to a bowl and sprinkle with salt. Gently mix to incorporate the salt evenly.
Step 7
Store the cottage cheese in an airtight container in the refrigerator and use within a week.
