Ingredients

8 Servings
  • 5 eggs
  • 200 grams sugar
  • 400 grams sweetened condensed milk
  • 5 ml vanilla extract
  • 60 ml water
  • 500 ml whole milk

Directions

Step 1
Preheat your oven to 175°C (350°F).
Step 2
In a saucepan, combine 200 grams of sugar and 60 ml of water. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly until the sugar dissolves and turns into a golden caramel.
Step 3
Quickly pour the caramel into a flan mold, tilting to coat the bottom evenly. Set aside to cool and harden.
Step 4
In a large bowl, whisk together 5 eggs until well blended.
Step 5
Add 400 grams of sweetened condensed milk, 500 ml of whole milk, and 5 ml of vanilla extract to the eggs. Mix until smooth.
Step 6
Pour the mixture over the hardened caramel in the flan mold.
Step 7
Place the flan mold in a larger baking dish. Fill the baking dish with hot water until it reaches halfway up the sides of the flan mold.
Step 8
Bake in the preheated oven for 60 minutes or until the flan is set and a knife inserted in the center comes out clean.
Step 9
Remove the flan mold from the water bath and let it cool to room temperature. Then refrigerate for at least 4 hours or overnight.
Step 10
To unmold, run a knife around the edges of the flan and invert it onto a serving plate. Enjoy your delicious Classic Mexican Flan!
