Japchae is a classic Korean dish made with stir-fried glass noodles, vegetables, and beef, seasoned with soy sauce and sesame oil. This dish is known for its balanced flavor and vibrant colors, making it a popular choice for special occasions and everyday meals.

Ingredients

  • 150 grams beef
  • 1 bell pepper
  • 1 carrot
  • 2 cloves garlic
  • 3 green onions
  • 100 grams mushrooms
  • 1 onion
  • 2 tablespoons sesame oil
  • 1 tablespoon sesame seeds
  • 5 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 100 grams spinach
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 200 grams sweet potato noodles

Directions

Step 1
Boil the sweet potato noodles according to the package instructions, then drain and rinse under cold water. Set aside.
Step 2
In a bowl, marinate the beef with 2 tablespoons of soy sauce and 1 tablespoon of sugar. Set aside for 10 minutes.
Step 3
Heat 1 tablespoon of sesame oil in a large pan over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and stir-fry until fragrant.
Step 4
Add the marinated beef to the pan and cook until browned. Remove from the pan and set aside.
Step 5
In the same pan, add the sliced onion, julienned carrot, and bell pepper. Stir-fry for 3-4 minutes until vegetables are tender-crisp.
Step 6
Add the spinach and mushrooms to the pan and cook until the spinach is wilted and the mushrooms are tender.
Step 7
Return the beef to the pan and add the cooked noodles. Pour in the remaining soy sauce and sugar, and stir everything together.
Step 8
Drizzle with the remaining sesame oil, add the chopped green onions, and sprinkle with sesame seeds. Stir well to combine.
Step 9
Serve the Japchae hot or at room temperature. Enjoy!
