Ingredients

  • 500 ml beef broth
  • 1.5 kg beef roast
  • 1 tsp black pepper
  • 4 garlic cloves
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 onion
  • 250 ml red wine
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce

Directions

Step 1
Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F).
Step 2
Season the beef roast with salt and black pepper.
Step 3
Heat olive oil in a large ovenproof skillet over medium-high heat.
Step 4
Sear the beef roast on all sides until browned, about 3-4 minutes per side.
Step 5
Remove the beef from the skillet and set aside.
Step 6
In the same skillet, add the minced garlic and chopped onion. Sauté until softened, about 5 minutes.
Step 7
Add the beef broth, red wine, and Worcestershire sauce to the skillet. Stir to combine.
Step 8
Return the beef roast to the skillet. Cover and transfer to the preheated oven.
Step 9
Roast for 1.5 to 2 hours, or until the beef is tender and cooked to your liking.
Step 10
Remove the beef from the oven and let it rest for 10 minutes before slicing.
Step 11
Serve the beef slices with the jus from the skillet.
