Delicate and delicious French macarons with a crisp shell and soft, chewy interior, perfect for any special occasion.
Directions
Step 1
Preheat your oven to 150°C (300°F) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
Step 2
Sift almond flour and powdered sugar into a bowl, then mix well.
Step 3
In a separate bowl, beat egg whites until foamy. Gradually add granulated sugar and continue to beat until stiff peaks form.
Step 4
Fold the dry ingredients into the egg whites until fully incorporated and the batter flows like lava.
Step 5
If desired, add food coloring and vanilla extract, and gently mix.
Step 6
Transfer the batter to a piping bag fitted with a round tip. Pipe small circles onto the parchment paper.
Step 7
Tap the baking sheet on the counter to release any air bubbles, then let the macarons sit at room temperature for about 30 minutes to form a skin.
Step 8
Bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes, until the macarons have risen and formed 'feet'.
Step 9
Remove from the oven and let cool completely on the baking sheet before removing them.
Step 10
Fill with your favorite filling, such as buttercream, ganache, or jam, and sandwich the macarons together.
