Simple Homemade Mochi

Ingredients

  • 160 g glutinous rice flour
  • 50 g potato starch
  • 100 g sugar
  • 240 ml water

Directions

Step 1
In a microwave-safe bowl, whisk together the glutinous rice flour and sugar.
Step 2
Gradually add the water while stirring until the mixture is smooth and free of lumps.
Step 3
Cover the bowl with plastic wrap, leaving a small gap for steam to escape.
Step 4
Microwave the mixture on high for 1 minute. Remove and stir well.
Step 5
Microwave for another 1-2 minutes until the mixture becomes thick and translucent.
Step 6
Dust a clean surface with potato starch and transfer the mochi mixture onto it.
Step 7
Allow the mochi to cool slightly, then cut and shape as desired, using more potato starch to prevent sticking.
