Ingredients

  • 100 g basil leaves
  • 0.5 tsp black pepper
  • 2 garlic cloves
  • 100 ml olive oil
  • 50 g parmesan cheese
  • 400 g pasta
  • 30 g pine nuts
  • 1 tsp salt

Directions

Step 1
Cook the pasta in a large pot of boiling salted water until al dente, according to the package instructions.
Step 2
While the pasta is cooking, prepare the pesto. In a food processor, combine basil leaves, grated Parmesan cheese, pine nuts, and garlic cloves. Pulse until the ingredients are finely chopped.
Step 3
With the machine running, slowly add the olive oil in a steady stream until the mixture is smooth and creamy. Season with salt and black pepper to taste.
Step 4
Drain the pasta, reserving a cup of the pasta cooking water.
Step 5
In a large bowl, toss the pasta with the pesto sauce. If the sauce is too thick, add a little of the reserved pasta cooking water until the desired consistency is reached.
Step 6
Serve immediately, garnished with extra Parmesan cheese and fresh basil leaves if desired.
