This classic Dutch Apple Pie features a buttery crust, a sweet and spiced apple filling, and a crunchy streusel topping. Perfect for dessert or a special occasion.
Directions
Step 1
Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
Step 2
In a large bowl, mix together 300g of all-purpose flour, 200g of granulated sugar, and 1 tsp of salt.
Step 3
Cut in 225g of cold, cubed unsalted butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
Step 4
Add 60ml of ice water and mix until the dough comes together. Form into a disk, wrap in plastic, and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.
Step 5
Peel, core, and slice 900g of apples. In a large bowl, toss the apples with 150g of brown sugar, 1 tsp of ground cinnamon, 0.25 tsp of ground nutmeg, 15ml of lemon juice, and 15g of cornstarch.
Step 6
Roll out the chilled dough on a lightly floured surface and fit it into a 9-inch pie dish. Trim excess dough and crimp the edges.
Step 7
Pour the apple mixture into the prepared crust.
Step 8
In a medium bowl, combine 50g of rolled oats, 50g of light brown sugar, 60g of melted unsalted butter, and 50g of all-purpose flour. Sprinkle this streusel topping over the apples.
Step 9
Bake in the preheated oven for 50-60 minutes, or until the crust is golden and the filling is bubbly. If the topping starts to brown too quickly, cover loosely with foil.
Step 10
Allow the pie to cool completely before serving. Enjoy your Classic Dutch Apple Pie!
