A classic British dish, Toad in the Hole features sausages baked in a crispy Yorkshire pudding batter. Perfect for a comforting family meal.

Ingredients

4 Servings
  • 200 g all-purpose flour
  • 3 eggs
  • 300 ml milk
  • 1 tsp pepper
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 8 sausages
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 100 ml water

Directions

Step 1
Preheat your oven to 220°C (425°F).
Step 2
In a large bowl, mix the flour, salt, and pepper.
Step 3
Make a well in the center and crack in the eggs. Gradually whisk in the milk and water until you have a smooth batter.
Step 4
Heat the vegetable oil in a large ovenproof dish in the oven until very hot.
Step 5
Add the sausages to the hot oil and cook for about 10 minutes until they are starting to brown.
Step 6
Pour the batter over the sausages and return the dish to the oven.
Step 7
Bake for 25-30 minutes until the batter is risen and golden brown.
Step 8
Serve hot with gravy and vegetables of your choice.
