A deliciously tangy and crispy pork dish, perfect for any occasion. This sweet and sour pork recipe combines tender pieces of pork with a flavorful sauce, colorful vegetables, and pineapple chunks. Enjoy it as a main dish with steamed rice.

Ingredients

  • 50 g cornstarch
  • 2 tbsp cornstarch slurry
  • 1 egg
  • 1 green bell pepper
  • 3 tbsp ketchup
  • 1 onion
  • 200 g pineapple chunks
  • 500 g pork loin
  • 1 red bell pepper
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 4 tbsp sugar
  • 300 ml vegetable oil
  • 100 ml water
  • 3 tbsp white vinegar

Directions

Step 1
In a bowl, mix the pork pieces with 50g of cornstarch and the beaten egg until well coated.
Step 2
Heat the vegetable oil in a deep pan or wok over medium-high heat and fry the pork pieces until golden and crispy. Remove and drain on paper towels.
Step 3
In another pan, heat a little oil and stir-fry the bell peppers and onion until slightly tender.
Step 4
Add the pineapple chunks to the vegetables and stir-fry for another 2 minutes.
Step 5
In a bowl, mix the soy sauce, white vinegar, ketchup, sugar, and 100ml of water to make the sauce.
Step 6
Pour the sauce into the pan with the vegetables and bring to a simmer.
Step 7
Add the cornstarch slurry to the sauce and stir until thickened.
Step 8
Add the fried pork pieces to the pan and toss to coat them evenly with the sauce.
Step 9
Serve the sweet and sour pork hot with steamed rice.
