This recipe recreates the popular Bang Bang Shrimp dish, featuring crispy shrimp coated in a spicy, creamy sauce. Perfect as an appetizer or main dish.

Ingredients

  • 0.5 tsp black pepper
  • 120 ml buttermilk
  • 60 g cornstarch
  • 120 g flour
  • 0.5 tsp garlic powder
  • 15 ml honey
  • 120 ml mayonnaise
  • 0.5 tsp paprika
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 450 g shrimp
  • 15 ml sriracha
  • 60 ml sweet chili sauce
  • 500 ml vegetable oil

Directions

Step 1
In a bowl, combine buttermilk and shrimp. Let marinate for 30 minutes.
Step 2
In another bowl, mix flour, cornstarch, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and paprika.
Step 3
Heat vegetable oil in a deep pan to 175°C (350°F).
Step 4
Dredge the marinated shrimp in the flour mixture, coating evenly.
Step 5
Fry the shrimp in batches until golden and crispy, about 2-3 minutes per batch. Drain on paper towels.
Step 6
In a small bowl, mix mayonnaise, sweet chili sauce, sriracha, and honey to make the sauce.
Step 7
Toss the fried shrimp in the sauce until well-coated.
Step 8
Serve immediately, garnished with chopped green onions if desired.
