20 Servings
  • 10 lemons
  • 500 g sugar
  • 1000 ml vodka
  • 500 ml water

Directions

Step 1
Wash the lemons thoroughly to remove any wax or pesticides.
Step 2
Peel the lemons, taking care to avoid the white pith which can make the limoncello bitter.
Step 3
Place the lemon peels in a large glass jar and pour the vodka over them. Seal the jar tightly.
Step 4
Let the mixture steep for at least 7 days at room temperature, shaking the jar occasionally.
Step 5
After 7 days, prepare the simple syrup by heating the water and sugar in a saucepan. Stir until the sugar is completely dissolved. Let it cool to room temperature.
Step 6
Strain the lemon peels from the vodka and discard the peels.
Step 7
Combine the lemon-infused vodka with the simple syrup. Stir well.
Step 8
Pour the limoncello into bottles and seal tightly. Let it rest for an additional week to allow the flavors to meld.
Step 9
Store the limoncello in the freezer and serve chilled.
