Filipino Beef Steak

Ingredients

  • 500 grams beef sirloin
  • 1 tsp black pepper
  • 60 ml calamansi juice
  • 2 tbsp cooking oil
  • 3 cloves garlic
  • 1 onion
  • 60 ml soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • 125 ml water

Directions

Step 1
In a bowl, combine soy sauce, calamansi juice, garlic, and black pepper. Add beef slices and marinate for at least 30 minutes.
Step 2
Heat cooking oil in a pan over medium heat. Fry the marinated beef slices until they are browned on both sides. Remove from the pan and set aside.
Step 3
In the same pan, sauté the onion rings until they become translucent. Remove and set aside.
Step 4
Pour the marinade into the pan and add water. Bring to a boil.
Step 5
Return the beef slices to the pan and simmer for about 15 minutes or until the beef is tender.
Step 6
Add sugar and stir until dissolved. Adjust seasoning with salt and pepper if needed.
Step 7
Serve the beef steak with sautéed onions on top. Enjoy with steamed rice.
