  • 120 g all-purpose flour
  • 0.5 tsp black pepper
  • 240 ml buttermilk
  • 120 g cornmeal
  • 4 green tomatoes
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 240 ml vegetable oil

Directions

Step 1
Slice the green tomatoes into 1/4 inch thick slices.
Step 2
Dip the tomato slices in buttermilk.
Step 3
Combine flour, cornmeal, salt, and pepper in a shallow dish.
Step 4
Dredge the tomato slices in the flour mixture, coating both sides.
Step 5
Heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
Step 6
Fry the tomato slices in batches until golden brown, about 3-4 minutes per side.

Drain the fried tomatoes on paper towels and serve hot.
