  • 3 bell peppers
  • 0.5 teaspoon black pepper
  • 0.5 cup chicken broth
  • 0.5 teaspoon crushed red pepper
  • 1 teaspoon dried basil
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 0.5 cup fresh basil
  • 3 cloves garlic
  • 4 Italian sausage
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 onions
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons tomato paste

Directions

Step 1
Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
Step 2
Add the Italian sausages and cook until browned on all sides, about 7-10 minutes. Remove the sausages from the skillet and set aside.
Step 3
In the same skillet, add the bell peppers and onions. Cook, stirring occasionally, until they begin to soften, about 5 minutes.
Step 4
Add the garlic, dried oregano, dried basil, crushed red pepper flakes, salt, and black pepper. Stir well to combine.
Step 5
Stir in the tomato paste and chicken broth. Bring the mixture to a simmer.
Step 6
Return the sausages to the skillet and reduce the heat to low. Cover and simmer for 15-20 minutes, or until the sausages are cooked through.
Step 7
Sprinkle with fresh basil before serving. Serve hot.
