Sweet and Tangy Pickles

These homemade bread and butter pickles are sweet, tangy, and perfect for snacking or adding to sandwiches. Simple to make and delicious to eat!

Ingredients

  • 0.5 tsp celery seed
  • 6 cucumber
  • 0.5 tsp ground turmeric
  • 1 tbsp mustard seed
  • 2 onion
  • 1 tbsp salt
  • 2.5 cup sugar
  • 2.5 cup white vinegar

Directions

Step 1
Place the cucumber and onion slices in a large bowl. Sprinkle with salt and stir to combine. Let sit for 1 hour.
Step 2
Drain and rinse the cucumber and onion slices under cold water. Set aside.
Step 3
In a large pot, combine sugar, white vinegar, mustard seed, celery seed, and ground turmeric. Bring to a boil over medium heat, stirring until the sugar has dissolved.
Step 4
Add the drained cucumber and onion slices to the pot. Bring back to a boil.
Step 5
Remove from heat and ladle the pickles and brine into sterilized jars. Seal the jars and let cool to room temperature before refrigerating.
