In a microwave-safe bowl, melt the semi-sweet chocolate chips and vegetable shortening in 30-second intervals, stirring after each interval until smooth.

Using a toothpick, dip each peanut butter ball into the melted chocolate, leaving a small portion of the peanut butter visible at the top. Place back on the wax paper.
