Delicious homemade apple turnovers with a flaky pastry crust and spiced apple filling. Perfect for a sweet breakfast or dessert.

Step 1
Preheat the oven to 200°C (400°F).

In a saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the diced apples, sugar, cinnamon, and lemon juice. Cook until the apples are tender, about 5-7 minutes. Let the mixture cool.

Roll out the puff pastry sheet on a floured surface and cut into 6 equal squares.

Place a spoonful of the apple mixture in the center of each square.

Fold the pastry over the filling to form a triangle. Press the edges together and seal with a fork.

In a small bowl, mix the beaten egg with 1 tbsp of water. Brush the tops of the turnovers with the egg wash.

Place the turnovers on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.

Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown.

Allow the turnovers to cool slightly before serving.
