A traditional dessert featuring whole apples wrapped in a flaky pastry and baked to perfection. Serve with a scoop of vanilla ice cream for an extra treat.
Directions
Step 1
Preheat your oven to 200°C (400°F).
Step 2
Combine sugar, brown sugar, butter, cinnamon, and nutmeg in a saucepan. Add water and bring to a boil, stirring until sugars are dissolved. Remove from heat and stir in vanilla extract.
Step 3
Roll out the pie dough on a floured surface and cut into six squares large enough to wrap around the apples.
Step 4
Place one apple in the center of each square of dough. Fill the core of each apple with some of the sugar mixture and dot with butter.
Step 5
Fold the dough up around each apple, pressing edges to seal. Place the wrapped apples in a baking dish.
Step 6
Pour the remaining sugar mixture over the dumplings.
Step 7
Bake in the preheated oven for 35-40 minutes, or until the pastry is golden brown and the apples are tender.
Step 8
Serve warm, optionally with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
