  • 2 bay leaves
  • 1 tsp cumin
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 60 ml lime juice
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 240 ml orange juice
  • 1 tsp oregano
  • 1 tsp pepper
  • 2.5 kg pork shoulder
  • 2 tsp salt
  • 240 ml water

Directions

Step 1
Season the pork shoulder chunks with salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, oregano, and cumin.
Step 2
Place the seasoned pork in a slow cooker. Add the fresh orange juice, lime juice, water, and bay leaves.
Step 3
Cook on low for 8 hours or on high for 4-5 hours, until the pork is tender and can be easily shredded.
Step 4
Remove the pork from the slow cooker and shred it using two forks. Discard the bay leaves.
Step 5
Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the shredded pork and cook until the edges are crispy, about 5-10 minutes.
Step 6
Serve the pork carnitas in tacos, burritos, or with rice and beans.
