  • 0.5 teaspoon black pepper
  • 4 tablespoons butter
  • 2 cups cheddar cheese
  • 2 cups milk
  • optional hot sauce
  • 0.5 teaspoon salt

Directions

Step 1
In a medium saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat.

Stir in the flour and cook for 1-2 minutes until the mixture is bubbly and lightly golden.

Gradually whisk in the milk, ensuring there are no lumps, and continue to cook, stirring constantly, until the mixture thickens, about 5-7 minutes.

Reduce the heat to low and add the shredded cheddar cheese, stirring until fully melted and smooth.

Season with salt, black pepper, and optional hot sauce to taste.
