Ingredients

  • 0.5 teaspoon black pepper
  • 400 grams diced tomatoes
  • 1 teaspoon dried basil
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 0.5 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 3 cloves garlic
  • 500 grams ground beef
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 onion
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 170 grams tomato paste
  • 800 grams tomato sauce
  • 240 milliliters water

Directions

Step 1
Heat olive oil in a large pot over medium heat.
Step 2
Add the ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it apart with a spoon as it cooks.
Step 3
Add the chopped onion and cook until softened, about 5 minutes.
Step 4
Stir in the minced garlic and cook for another minute.
Step 5
Add the tomato sauce, tomato paste, and diced tomatoes to the pot.
Step 6
Stir in the sugar, salt, black pepper, dried basil, dried oregano, and dried thyme.
Step 7
Add the water and bring the sauce to a boil.
Step 8
Reduce the heat to low and let it simmer, uncovered, for about 1 hour, stirring occasionally.
Step 9
Taste and adjust seasoning if necessary. Serve over cooked spaghetti or your favorite pasta.
