Ingredients

  • 240 ml beef broth
  • 1 tsp black pepper
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 2 carrots
  • 150 g corn
  • 2 garlic cloves
  • 500 g ground beef
  • 1000 g mashed potatoes
  • 1 onion
  • 150 g peas
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 2 tbsp tomato paste
  • 1 tbsp worcestershire sauce

Directions

Step 1
Preheat your oven to 190°C (375°F).
Step 2
In a large skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the chopped onion, carrots, and garlic. Cook until softened, about 5 minutes.
Step 3
Add the ground beef to the skillet and cook until browned, breaking it up with a spoon as it cooks.
Step 4
Stir in the tomato paste, beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper. Simmer for 5-10 minutes until the sauce thickens.

Add the frozen peas and corn to the meat mixture. Cook for another 5 minutes until the vegetables are heated through.
Step 6
Transfer the meat mixture to a baking dish. Spread the mashed potatoes evenly over the top of the meat mixture.
Step 7
Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the filling is bubbling.
Step 8
Let the shepherd's pie cool for a few minutes before serving.
